Sailing? Me?! I wasn’t really sure what to think of it once my dad told us what we will do for his 60th birthday. All of us in one boat for more than a couple of hours? We even managing to get keep a boat afloat and running? It was an adventure and I would do it all over again.
We booked our sailing trip with the company HollandSail and chartered De Vriendschap, a ship from 1902. Together with the skipper Remko and his partner Yteke we successfully sailed all across the Ijsselmeer. It was so much fun and even though the weather was very unstable we travelled quite a bit. And it’s not that much work if you’re 14 people like we were… there was plenty of time to read a good book, too.
We sailed from Enkhuizen to Monnickendam and then on to the North Sea to Den Oever. During the afternoon we always had time to discover the towns and I was surprised how different and super cute they are. Here a some impressions from Enkhuizen.
